Du Plessis to Return for Matatū
Amy Du Plessis is back for her second season with Matatū, ready to take the field for the South Island’s only Super Rugby Aupiki team.
The 23-year-old midfield back and newly crowned World Champion made her debut for Otago in 2018, scoring 45 points across 15 appearances.
She played for Matatu in their inaugural 2021 season and was selected for the Black Ferns in 2022, making her international debut in June against Canada.
She took the field for the Black Ferns historic win against England in the final of the 2021 Rugby World Cup.
Blair Baxter, Matatū Head Coach, said Duplessis was “a highly competitive athlete who works extremely hard to be the best version of herself every day”.
“Amy’s work ethic, her defensive reads, her ability to beat a defender, these are attributes we’re excited to see play out in 2023 for Matatū,” Baxter said.
