Matatū Recruit Robins-Reti

Matatū have secured the services of Black Ferns wing Cheyelle Robins-Reti for the 2023 Super Rugby Aupiki season. A former Black Ferns Sevens player, Robins-Reti played the shorter format from 2017-2019 before returning to New Zealand with her sights set on success in the 15s game.

In 2020, Robins-Reti scored six tries in eight appearances for Waikato in the Farah Palmer Cup and was soon selected for the 2021 Black Ferns European tour. Northampton, England was where she first stepped on the field as a Black Fern in the second test match against England.

Chey played the inaugural Super Rugby Aupiki 2022 season with the Hurricanes Poua and has made the shift to the South Island to play for Matatū in 2023. 

Matatū Head Coach Blair Baxter is excited to have Robins’ Reti’s versatility and experience at his disposal.

The Matatū team was established in 2022 representing both the Crusaders and Highlanders regions in Super Rugby Aupiki. The term Matatū can be heard echoing out at the end of the famous haka “Tēnei te rūrū” as an instructive command to remain steadfast with head held high to take on any and every challenge head on.
